ANAHEIM, Calif. -
Northern State junior Geoffrey Firmin scored six of the Wolves' final eight points of the night, including a three-point play with 14 seconds left, as NSU outscored Cal State Dominguez Hills 8-0 in the last three minutes of play to take a dramatic 69-67 win over the Torros in the Disney Tip-off Classic finale on Sunday afternoon.

The win marks NSU's first of the season, moving the Wolves to 1-2.  CSDH suffered its second loss of the three-day classic and leaves Anaheim also at 1-2 on the year.

NSU jumped out to an early 6-0 lead after canning its first two attempts from long range, but watched the advantage disappear following a nearly five-minute scoreless stretch during which both teams squared off at a 6-5 standstill.  The Wolves traded leads with CSDH before the Torros canned a three-pointer at the 5:50 mark of the half to take the lead for almost the remainder of the night.

NSU tied things up just before half on a bucket from Trent Zomer and a three-pointer from Michael Emge, who made his first career start.  The Torros, however drained a trey of their own with two seconds on the clock to take a 30-37 lead into the break.

CSDH stretched the lead to as many as seven in the second half before the Wolves mounted their final comeback of the day.  Firmin converted on a three-point play with three minutes left in the game to slash the Torro lead in half.  Back-to-back defensive stands at the other end gave the Wolves the ball back with just under two minutes to play.

Emge misfired on a three-point attempt, but stuck the second chance attempt following an offensive rebound by Zomer.  Two more defensive stands gave the Wolves one final possession with 31 seconds left, allowing NSU to draw up one final play.  Firmin converted on a driving lay-up with 14 seconds left, drawing a foul in the process.  The ensuing free throw put the Wolves up by two.

CSDH's Myron Green got off a potential game-winner with two seconds left, but was unable to convert, leaving the Wolves with the dramatic victory.

Firmin and Zomer paced the Wolves in their best offensive attack of the weekend, putting up 16 points apiece.  Zomer came off the bench to go 7-for-10 from the free throw line while gathering in six total rebounds.  Emge added 13 points in his first career start, going 3-for-8 from long range, while Firmin added five boards and five assists to his line.

The Torros were led by Givon Crump's 21 points and six rebounds.  Mitrell Clark added ten points off the bench.

NSU returns home to host Dakota State in its home opener Friday night.  Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. following the conclusion of the NSU women's game against South Dakota School of Mines.  Black Hills State and Minnesota State will kick off the day with a 4 p.m. match-up.
