Balanced attack leads Wolves to 3-0 sweep

The Northern State Wolves made quick work of a Thursday night win over the Minot State Beavers Thursday night in the Wolves' final road match of the season, taking a 25-13, 25-15, 24-22 sweep over MSU in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference volleyball action.

NSU improved to 15-10 overall and 10-7 in NSIC play, winning their final six road matches of the season.  The Beavers slipped to 6-21 on the season and 2-15 in the loop.

The Wolves got out to a lightning quick start, hitting .509 in the first two sets.  Senior Kaleinani Kabalis had 10 kills on 12 swings in that stretch without an error.  Sophomore Macey Finizio had 12 kills to take the Wolves into the break.

The Beavers put together a rally in the third set, forcing ties at points 13, 14, 17 and 18 before the Wolves created some breathing room with a service ace and two straight kills by freshmen Cari McGarvie and Kelsey Chambers.

Finizio finished off the set and match with her 17th kill of the night to complete the sweep.

Kabalis fiished with 13 kills and 15 digs for the Wolves, who held the Beavers to a .119 attacking percentage.  Chambers added 13 kills, while senior Libero had 17 digs in the effort.

Minot State was led by 12 kills from Mallory Sall and another eight from Shari Hewson.

The Wolves close out the regular season with three straight home matches, starting Sunday afternoon.  NSU will host U-Mary in a 4 p.m. match-up.
