ABERDEEN, S.D. -
A pair of second half goals were enough to propel the visiting Minot State Beavers past Northern State by a 3-1 count on Sunday afternoon in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference soccer action.

The two teams battled to a 1-1 tie in the opening half.  Minot State scored off a corner kick opportunity in the 36th minute, but the Wolves responded less than ten minutes later.  Senior Rachel Goslinga tallied her tenth goal of the year after taking a long pass from junior Tia Lopez that cleared the Minot State defense.  The Beavers' goalkeeper Ashley Barcewski came out to defend, but Goslina skirted the attempt and buried the ball in the far corner of the net.

The Beavers then scored two goals in a seven minute stretch early in the second half.  The first came on a breakaway opportunity after the Beaver defense cleared a Northern State corner kick.  Zoe Fischer picked up the long clearing kick and used a 2-on-1 situation to her advantage.

Jamie McFarlane tacked on the insurance goal in the 64th minute, picking up her own rebound and finding the net.

NSU had several free kick opportunities in the late going, but could not punch another one in the goal.

The contest concludes the 2012 season for the Wolves, who honored seniors Renee Gittings, Anna Woerle and Goslinga prior to the game.
