Mustangs slip past Wolves in double overtime, 2-1

MARSHALL, Minn. -
The Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs scored in the 106th minute of play to slip past the Northern State Wolves Saturday afternoon in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference soccer action.  SMSU salvaged the 2-1 win on Miranda Cadena's double-overtime goal.

The Wolves drew first blood on senior Rachel Goslinga's eighth goal of the season.  Goslinga scored in the 16th minute, picking up a rebound following a Hilary Peterson shot and burying it in the corner of the net to put the Wolves up 1-0.

SMSU would not even the score until six and a half minutes into the second period on a Brittney Bravo goal.  Bravo also assisted on the game-ender in overtime.

NSU had a couple of shots to take the lead late in the game, once on a penalty kick opportunity, but could not convert.  The Wolves slip to 3-8-1 overall and 2-6-1 in NSIC play.  The Mustangs moved to 5-5-1 on the season and 3-5-1 in the loop.

NSU remains on the road to face NSIC newcomer Sioux Falls tomorrow afternoon to complete the weekend of road play.  First kick is set for 1 p.m.
