Wolves hit final homestand in January

SETTING THE STAGE:
The Wolves hold their second to last home stand of the season as they prepare to go round two with NSIC opponents. At the turn last season, the Wolves lost just twice in thier final nine regular season games. Northern is coming off of a 1-1 week which saw the Wolves beat Minot state 81-61 and fall victim to the University of Mary 73-71. The victory against Minot saw Sarah Hintz hit a career high of 21 points on 9-10 shooting.

NSU leads the series with UMD 45-8

About the Bulldogs:
The Bulldogs are 11-6 (5-4 away) and 8-5 in the NSIC. Last weekend the Bulldogs pulled the weekend sweep beating Southwest Minnesota State 58-54 and Minnesota State 56-54. Duluth is led by three players in double figures as Katrina Newman averages 14.7 per game with Courtney Doucette and Shelly Stemper coming in at 12.8 and 11.1 respectively. Minnesota Duluth also enters tonights game ranked #1 in the NSIC with 16 offensive rebounds a game, led by Newman with 3.82 a game.

About the Beavers:
Bemidji State enters the weekend 7-11 (3-5 away) and 5-8 in the NSIC. Bemidji posted a weekend, snapping Minnesota State's eight game win streak in a 72-71 victory. The following night, BSU was victorious in a 77-54 victory over Southwest Minnesota State. The Beavers are led by Morgan Lee at 13.1 points per game while Kate Warmack and Shannon Thompson come in at 12.8 and 11.3 respectively. The Beavers boast the second ranked three point shooting team in the NSIC with 6.94 made per game, led by Lee at 2.33.

Who 2 Watch 4: Mikayla Barondeau (F, 6-1, Sr, Frederick, S.D. / Frederick-Leola HS) had her best weekend of the season as the senior nearly averaged a double-double with 12.5 points a game and 9.5 rebounds per game to go along with 3.5 assists per contest. In the victory over future NSIC foe Minot State, Barondeau tied a season high of 13 points while snagging eight rebounds. In the loss to U-Mary, Barondeau scored 12 points while picking up 11 boards, her second double-double of the season. Barondeau also hit 53.8 percent of her shots on the week while going fifty percent from long range (3-6) and posting just one turnover.
