ABERDEEN, S.D. –
The four-time Concordia University-St. Paul Golden Bears showcased their top-ranked billing on Friday night, shutting down the visiting Northern State University Wolves in straight sets, 25-14, 25-12, 25-17.

The match marked the second straight match in which the Wolves faced a top-ten team, falling to 5-4 overall and 0-2 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action.  CU remains perfect on the year at 9-0 overall and moves to 1-0 after their league opener.

The Golden Bears took the early control in each of the three sets, including a 5-0 breakout in the second of the three.  Despite sticking around through the early points of the opening set, the Wolves never seriously threatened the Golden Bears.  NSU made a late run in the third set, taking advantage of five straight CU errors to close to within six points, but ran out of steam and time to extend the match.

The Wolves, who were held to a 0.74 attack percentage at the net, were led by seniors Konefesi Vaisigano and Kaili Aiono who finished with six kills apiece.  Aiono was the bright spot on the attack, committing just two errors in 18 swings, while Vaisigano was in on all three NSU blocks on the night.

CU got a match-best 13 kills from Katie Habeck, while Kayla Koenecke and Ellie Duffy finished with 11 and 10, respectively.

The Wolves remain on the road tomorrow night to face St. Cloud State in another NSIC match-up.  The Huskies were taking on U-Mary on Friday night in their conference opener and entered the weekend at 4-4 overall.
