SETTING THE STAGE:
The Northern State women's basketball team will wrap up its regular season when they travel to Bismarck to take on the University of Mary on Saturday. Tip off is slated for 2 p.m.

THE SERIES:

SIZING UP THE COMPETITION:

CU outscored Mary in the second half, 55-30 in the Golden Bears' 108-74 victory in St. Paul. Shauna Knife led Mary with 15 points. On Friday night, Ali Collins had a game-high 22 points in the Maruders' 79-53 win over St. Cloud State. The victory gives Mary ninth place in outright in the conference as both teams were previously tied.

LAST TIME OUT:

In Friday's win, NSU recorded three players in double-digits, and were led tonight by Jodi Reinschmidt with a game-high 19 points and 8 rebounds. Two points behind her was Krista Rabenberg with 17 points, seven blocks and eight more boards. Emily Becken finished the night with 15 points, six rebounds and a season-high eight assists.

Hitting a free-throw with just a second remaining in regulation, Northern State's Emily Becken tied her career high point total at 23 and led the Wolves to victory over CU on Saturday.

Northern State: Jodi Reinschmidt, averaging 15.8 points per game, 5.9 rebounds per game, averaging 18.8 points since win at Upper Iowa.

Mary: Shaunna Knife, averaging 10.4 points per game, 5.9 rebounds per game, and 2.3 assists per game. Shooting 41 percent on the year.

Saturday's game against Mary marks the first time Northern State has been tied at half time during the 2010-2011 season. Both teams sat at 27 going into the break. The Wolves are now 1-0 with a tie going into half, while they have won nine games when they lead at half and have earned victory in two games when they trail at the end of the first period.
Northern currently ranks second in conference standings behind Wayne State in points allowed giving up an average of just 59. 5 points a game. The Wolves also sit second in field goal percentage at 46.5 percent. NSU is third in the NSIC grabbing an average of 27.47 defensive rebounds per game.
While she may not have set the record for most points scored in an indvidual game (held by Maurie Simon with 44 points in 1975), Reinschmidt's career-high 38 points in Northern's win over Minnesota, Crookston is the most points scored by an NSU player since Jammie Coyle's 37-point performance on Nov. 7, 1999 against Francis Marion University. Reinschmidt's contribution sets her at top of the NSIC single-game season high point total as well as the single-game season high for field goals made with 17.
For the first time this season, Krista Rabenberg recorded her first double-double of the season when she scored 21 points and grabbed 10 boards against Augie. Rabenberg posted another double-double performance Saturday night when she contributed 13 points and 11 rebounds.
The fourth Regional Rankings of the season were released on Wednesday with Northern State sitting in sixth. Leading the Central Region is Fort Lewis with previous leader Wayne State at third. Concordia-St. Paul sits at fifth while Augustana is ranked seventh and Winona State sits at eighth. The next rankings will be released Wednesday.
Northern State earned its final weekend sweep of the season when they defeated St. Cloud State, 65-52 on Friday, and snapped CU's 13-game winning streak on Saturday with a 70-67 victory.
The U Mary women's basketball team is coming of a weekend of road play in which the Maruders lost to Concordia-St. Paul on Friday and earned a victory over St. Cloud State on Saturday.
Since the 2006-07 season, Northern State has dominated the series against Mary notching a 6-3 record. For the first three seasons of the series, each team took a win. Northern State is 3-1 at Mary and 3-2 at Wachs Arena. Earlier this season, the Wolves earned a 60-57 come from behind win over the Maruders at home.
