Women's Basketball Takes 65-47 Victory

SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Northern State (3-0, 0-0 NSIC) women's basketball team started off 3-0 for the first time since starting 4-0 in the 2006-07 season. The Wolves traveled west to take on NCAA Division II transitional team and future member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Black Hills State (1-2). The Wolves took the victory with a score of 65-47.

In a game that the home team led just twice, the last time at 12:07 in the first half, the Wolves pulled away for the dominating victory.

At the half, the Wolves lead was at 10 over the Yellowjackets.

The Wolves were lead in scoring by senior Emily Becken, who scored 17 points on 5-6 shooting and 6-8 from the free throw line while dishing out five assists. Becken now sits at 989 career points for the Wolves, looking to snag 1,000 on Saturday night.

The Wolves also go double digit scoring efforts from senior Mikayla Bardondeau with 12 and 11 from sophomore Rachel Krogman.

The Wolves outrebounded their opponent for the third straight game by snagging 34 rebounds compared to 30 for the Yellowjackets.

The Wolves shot a scorching 56.4 percent from the field on 22-39 shooting while holding the Yellowjackets to 29.6 percent.

The Wolves return to action as they take on South Dakota Tech in Rapid City, in a 8 p.m. CST start.
