Wolves look to end season on high note

11/11/2011 11:24:00 AM

Setting the Stage:  Northern State (4-6, 3-6 NSIC), fresh of their first two-game win streak since the 2007 season, returns home to close out the 2011 season against the University of Mary (5-5, 4-5 NSIC), a team that has seen its own ups and downs on the season.  The Wolves, who have already surpassed their win total of the last three seasons, will be going for their first five-win season since a 5-6 campaign in 2007.

Last Meeting: The University of Mary raced to 14-0 lead and never looked back en route to a 48-3 victory over Northern State Saturday in front of 1,522 fans in the Bismarck Community Bowl.  The Marauder defense held the Wolves to just 219 yards in the game, 153 of which came on the ground.

About U-Mary: The Marauders have ridding the roller coaster of an up and down season, with big wins over Chadron State and Augustana - both of whom were receiving notice from the AFCA Top 25 poll - to start the season and a ranked Bemidji State team three weeks ago.  They also suffered an early season loss to an unranked SMSU squad and, most recently, a three-point setback to Winona State last weekend.

Head Coach Myron Schulz: An assistant coach on the first U-Mary football team in 1988, Schulz has been an integral part of the program's success since its inception.  U-Mary's all-time winningest head coach, Schulz enters his 13th season at the Marauders helm in 2011 and will serve his 21st season on the school's coaching staff out of the 24 years the program has existed.

Series History: NSU will be going for its first ever win over the Marauders, who have won all five meetings between the two teams.
