ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State women's soccer team (4-9-0, 1-7-0 NSIC) experienced déjà vu against Bemidji State University (5-5-2, 4-2-2 NSIC) after taking the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference foe in to double overtime and getting scored on in the 106th minute of action. On Saturday, the Wolves took the University of Minnesota Duluth into double overtime and lost in the 106th minute. Today, the Beavers scored from 25 yards out to take the 1-0 victory from the Wolves.

In a cold and rainy afternoon, the Wolves did not get much offense in the first half, as they took only two shots with only one being on goal. Junior forward Rachel Goslinga took the shot, only to be denied by Beaver goalkeeper Abby Kjonaas. The Beavers were able to secure nine shots, four of which were on goal.

The second half was much of the same for the Wolves, as they took three shots but none on goal. The Beavers once again had nine shots in the half, five of which on goal.

Freshman goalkeeper Shaina Stein did an outstanding job for the Wolves, as she had nine saves on nine shots attempted at the end of regulation.

As the Wolves entered double overtime for the second straight day, the Beavers were awarded a corner kick, much like the day before for the Wolves. This time however, the header from Mari Wallestad sailed wide right of the goal.

Just two minute later in the match, forward Kirsten Erickson secured the ball from 25 yards out, where she unleashed the game-winning shot. The ball skipped off the extended fingertips of Stein as it sailed into the net for the win.

The Beavers outshot the Wolves 21-6, also taking the category of shots on goal 10-1. The Wolves were shutout for the fifth time in six games.

The Wolves take on Winona State on Saturday October 15, in an 11 a.m. matchup at Jerde Field in Aberdeen.
