Wolves fall 3-1 to Golden Bears

St. Paul, Minn. – The Northern State Wolves (4-13, 1-11 NSIC) soccer team fell 3-1 to Concordia-St. Paul (6-9, 5-6 NSIC) in a Sunday afternoon matinee in St. Paul, Minnesota.

The Wolves struck first when Anna Woerle connected on her second career goal. Rachel Goslinga was able to string a pass to Woerle in the box where she was able to place the ball into the net at the 8:29 mark in the first half.

The Golden Bears tied the game at 29:11 when Amanda Olsen scored her 12th goal on the season on a pass from Arielle Stimson.

At the end of the first period the match would remain tied at one apiece.

The Golden Bears would score their second goal of the match when Sam McBain scored off a corner kick. McBain sent the ball on a bending shot that curved into the goal, in the 77th minute.

The Golden Bears would strike again just a minute later when Brittany Kapala scored off of a Kaylyn Rae Smith assist, bringing the score to the final of 3-1.

The Wolves were outshot 18-4 in the match. Of the four shots for the Wolves, two were on goal. The Wolves received shots from Woerle, who had two shots, Haley Burns and Lexi Jares.

Northern State goalkeeper Shaina Stein faced nine shots on goal while saving six. Steins counterpart had one save and one goal against.

The Wolves final game of the season will be Saturday, October 29, in a 12 p.m. matchup with travel partner University of Mary at Jerde Field in Aberdeen. This matchup will serve as senior day for the Wolves with departing seniors Katie Anderson, Ashley Elliott, Lexi Jares, and Haley Burns playing their final game for the Wolves.
