Aberdeen, S.D. -On a very blustery afternoon game at Jerde Field, the Northern State Wolves soccer team (4-11-0, 1-9-0 NSIC) saw a tale of two halves appear before them in a 2-1 loss to the Upper Iowa Peacocks (5-6-2, 3-4-2 NSIC).

The Wolves got on the scoreboard first, their first goal since October 2 against Minnesota State Moorhead, when Rachel Goslinga sent a ball to the back of the net. In the 38th minute, Hillary Peterson served a ball from the left side of the field to the right, over the defense to a streaking Goslinga, who took one dribble to set up for the shot, and sent the ball past a diving Kaitlyn Emanuel on the far post.

That would be all the offense in the first half, with the Peacocks taking 8 shots and the Wolves two.

The second half was a different story for the Wolves. The Peacocks controlled the ball in the Wolves defensive half for most of the second period.

In the 64th minute, the Wolves were trying to clear the ball from the penalty area when Kali Loescher picked up the loose ball and shot the ball past a diving Shaina Stein.

With the game tied at one apiece the Peacocks got the first shot at breaking the tie. Valeria Ptasinski took a shot from 20-yards out which hit off the crossbar but landed right at the feet of Alyssa Petersburg who took the shot and scored for game-winning goal in the 2-1 victory.

The Wolves could not get another shot off as the game would end with that final score.

The Wolves were outshot by the Peacocks 25-3, also being outshot in the shots on goal category 9-1.

Peacock goalkeeper Emanuel did not have a save, as the only shot on goal was scored by Goslinga. Wolves' goalkeeper Shaina Stein had seven saves on the nine shots that were placed upon her.

The Wolves got shots from Tia Lopez, Renee Gittings, and the goal scored by Goslinga.

The Wolves look to rebound next Saturday October 22 in a 1 p.m. matchup at St. Cloud State.
