Crookston, Minn. – The Northern State (5-5-0, 1-4-0 NSIC) allowed a first half goal in a very blustery soccer game in Crookston, Minn. and drop a 1-0 decision to the host University of Minnesota, Crookston (2-8-0, 1-4-0 NSIC) Golden Eagles in Northern Sun Intercollegiate action on Saturday.
The Golden Eagles, after having two consecutive shots miss, were able to score on the third shot in a one-minute time frame when Nikki Hammond was able to slide a shot past Wolves goalkeeper
Shaina Stein in the 21st minute of action in the first half.
That is all the offense that was needed by the Golden Eagles as the Wolves were shutout for the third consecutive match.
The Wolves had the edge in shots as they were able to post nine shots having eight land on net. The Golden Eagles were able to get eight shots off having five of them land on net. Freshman goalkeeper
Shaina Stein had four saves on the day while Golden Eagle goalkeeper Amanda Stapleton had eight saves en route to posting the shutout.

Ashley Elliott led the Wolves with four shots while posting three on net. Junior

Renee Gittings each had a shot apiece.
The Wolves return to NSIC action on Sunday as they take on the Dragons of MSU Moorhead in a 1 p.m. contest in Moorhead, Minn.
