WINONA, Minn. –
The No. 20 Winona State University Warriors put the clamps on the Northern State University offense, holding the Wolves to just 39.3 percent shooting and a season-low-matching 57 points to pull away and hand NSU an 81-57 loss Tuesday night in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference men's basketball action.

The Wolves dropped to 5-7 overall and 1-7 in league play.  WSU moved to 9-2 on the season and 6-2 in conference games.

NSU hung tight through the opening portion of the night, taking a one-point lead on two occasions in the first half.  The second and final advantage came at the 12:38 mark on a Jared Hannigan offensive rebound and putback to make it 14-13.

From there, however, the night belonged to the Warriors, who outscored the Wolves 68-43 the rest of the way.

Although their top scorer finished with just 11 points, the Warriors put all 14 players to see the court in the scoring column.  Xavier Humphrey had those 11 points, while Anthony Tucker came off the bench for 10 more.  Tucker and the rest of the WSU bench outscored the NSU reserves by a 44-15 margin.

Sophomore Dustin Tetzlaff had 15 points and seven rebounds to lead the way for NSU.  Fellow front court running mate Collin Pryor added 13 points and four steals for the Wolves.  NSU converted on just three of their 10 three-point attempts, while the Warriors drained 10 of their 25 attempts from long range.

The Wolves remain on the road next weekend at Minnesota, Crookston and MSU Moorhead on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.  The games are one day later than originally scheduled due to last weekend's winter storm.  Tip-off is slated for 4 p.m. both days following the conclusion of the women's contests.
