ABERDEEN, S.D. – Second-ranked Augustana College pulled away from a 6-6 tie and won the final six bouts of the evening to hand the host Northern State University Wolves a 32-6 loss Thursday evening in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference wrestling action.

The loss, NSU's third straight to a ranked league opponent, drops the Wolves to 3-4-1 in dual meets this season and 0-3 in conference meetings.  The Vikings moved to 8-1 in duals and 2-0 in NSIC action.

The two teams traded decisions to open the night with Carl Serck, ranked sixth in the nation at 174 pounds, starting off the night with an 8-3 decision over NSU's Chad Gibson.  Fourth-ranked senior Cale Cornemann countered with a hard-fought 3-1 decision over Thomas Davies at 184 pounds in a bout that went into the second tie-breaker sets before Cornemann earned a two-point reversal 23 seconds into the final set.

Augustana's Ty Copsey (No. 2) regained the Viking lead with a 9-5 win over Brent Foscheim at 197 pounds before sophomore Matt Meuleners re-tied the match at 6-all with a 4-0 shutout over Lance Peters.  The shutout is the third straight for Meuleners, who moved up to second in the nation following last week's four-win effort.

The Vikings, however, took control of the match from that point on, picking up a forfeit win at 125 pounds, then earning two major decisions and a technical fall in the final five weights and cruising to the 32-6 final victory.

Thursday night's action was the first of four straight home duals for the Wolves, who next take the mat on Jan. 26 to host Dakota Wesleyan in a non-conference dual.  Action kicks off at 7 p.m. in Wachs Arena.
