SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Northern State University Wolves dropped just two individual matches and racked up ten wins by fall Wednesday night en-route to a pair of non-conference dual meet victories over the University of Sioux Falls and Northwestern College.
The Wolves downed the Red Raiders of NWC 47-3 to start the day, then came back for a 50-3 victory over the host Cougars.
Four different Wolves earned wins by fall in both matches.
Blake Lundgren (157 pounds), Neil Sell (165),
Chad Gibson (174), and
Matt Meuleners (285) all added two pins to their season records. Gibson notched the fastest pin of the night with his 47-second victory over Aaron Ruskel in the opener against Northwestern. He also pinned Tal Bakke of USF in just over a minute, meaning the junior earned two pins in just 1:48 of mat time.
Senior
Corbin Surat (125) and sophomore
Beau Voegeli (149) also recorded one pin each, while
Ian Muirhead picked up two major decisions at 133 pounds, as did senior
Cale Cornemann at 184 pounds.
NSU remains on the road to kick off Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action this weekend. The Wolves wrestle at Minnesota State, Mankato on Saturday starting at 4 p.m. and at Upper Iowa on Sunday at 2 p.m.
