MOORHEAD, Minn. –
The Northern State University Wolves scored a pair of four-set victories over fellow Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference teams Bemidji State and Minnesota State Moorhead on Friday at the MSU Moorhead Dragon Volleyball Classic.  With the non-conference wins, the Wolves, who have not lost since a season-opening loss to 12th ranked Emporia State last weekend, now stand at 5-1 on the young season heading into Saturday's matches.

Bemidji State, picked to finish 12th in the NSIC preseason coaches poll, fell to 3-2 after the morning match.  MSU Moorhead, tabbed to the 7th place spot in that poll, slipped to 2-4 following the nightcap.  NSU was picked 10th.

Junior Amber Bloom continued her torrid start to the season, registering her second triple-double of the year with a 13-kill, 13-assist, 10-dig performance in the day's second match.  The left-handed outside hitter also had nine kills and 13 digs in the morning contest.

Junior Kaili Aiono had 23 digs to five Wolves in double-digit dig figures in the nightcap as NSU held the host Dragons to just a .115 hitting percentage.  Game scores for that match were 25-16, 22-25, 28-25, 25-20.

In the day's opening match, NSU overcame 28 attacking errors and a team .088 hitting percentage to escape with the win.  Senior Kayla Ysteboe had 13 kills on 42 attempts to go along with nine digs.  Megan Gilbraith had 26 assists and 10 digs, while sophomore Ella Campbell and Aiono combined for 34 of the team's 78 total digs.

BSU, meanwhile, committed 34 attacking errors and recorded just a 0.67 hitting percentage.

The Wolves continue with the second day of the Dragon Classic tomorrow, taking on Minot State to open the day and Adelphi (N.Y.) in the afternoon.
