WINONA, Minn. – Northern State continues to have Winona State's number.  The Wolves improved their record to 9-3 over the Warriors in the last 12 games between the two schools with a 64-53 at McCown Gymnasium in Winona, Minn. Friday.

The win improves the Wolves record to 11-10 overall on the season, and 7-7 in NSIC league play.

The two teams battled to a 28-all tie at half, with nearly identical box scores. 

The second-half was when the Wolves decided to pull away with 14 more made free throws and only three turnovers in the stanza.

The Wolves finished going 17-21 from the free throw line, while the Warriors were just 2-5 from the charity stripe.

The Wolves defense was able to hold three Winona State starters scoreless and forced 14 Warrior turnovers compared to just eight of their own.

The Wolves were led by a pair of sophomores in Emily Becken and Mikayla Barondeau.  Becken led the squad with 16 points on 4-9 shooting from the floor, including 2-5 from three-point land, and 6-6 from the free throw line.  She also tied her career-high with eight rebounds and added an assist and a steal in 35 minutes of action.

Barondeau finished with 15 points on 5-13 shooting and was 1-2 from deep.  She went 4-5 at the free throw line and led the squad with nine rebounds in 35 minutes on the court.

Junior Krista Rabenberg was the last member of the team in double figures with her 13 points.  She went 4-5 from the floor and 5-6 from the free throw line, and had five assists (zero turnovers), and two blocks.

The Wolves will look for a weekend road sweep tomorrow night when they take on the Upper Iowa Peacocks in Fayette, Iowa.  The Peacocks lost to the University of Mary 62-52 tonight.
