ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University wrestling squad faced off against another nationally ranked opponent Friday and fell to the #7 Mavericks of Minnesota State by a 32-9 score.
The loss drops the Wolves to 4-8 overall and 1-4 in the NSIC in dual meets.
The Wolves were able to get three victories on the night, starting with junior Ryan Larsen at 157-pounds. He earned a hard-fought 6-5 decision over the #3 ranked wrestler in the region in MSU's Justin Turek.
Donnie Bowden continued in the next match with a dominating 7-2 victory over Tel Todd to improve his record to 14-9 on the season.
The last win for the Wolves came from redshirt freshman Matt Meuleners who earned a close 8-7 victory over John Makabe. Meuleners improves his record to 16-7 with the victory.
The Wolves will be pulling double duty next week when they close out their regular season with dual matches against NSIC foes the University of Mary and Southwest Minnesota State.
