BISMARCK, N.D. - The University of Mary raced to 14-0 lead and never looked back en route to a 48-3 victory over Northern State Saturday in front of 1,522 fans in the Bismarck Community Bowl.
The Marauder defense held the Wolves to just 219 yards in the game, 153 of which came on the ground.
U-Mary opened the scoring with a 16-yard touchdown run by Jamal Lomax at the 6:48 mark of the first half and followed it with a 10-yard touchdown pass from Craig Bagnell to Terry Newsome two minutes and 40 seconds later.
Senior kicker Thomas Parrott booted a 23-yard field goal at the 14:45 mark of the second quarter to put Northern State on the board. U-Mary would then respond with 34 unanswered points to put the game out of reach.
The Wolves were led offensively by freshman running back Matt Anderson who turned 14 carries into 59 yards.
Junior quarterback Nick Wanner completed 7-of-15 passes for 50 yards in the loss while senior wideout Trent DesLauriers caught two passes for a team-high 20 yards.
Defensively, redshirt freshman defensive back Logan Dosch led the team with eight tackles and a pass break-up.
Northern State concluded the 2010 season with a 2-9 record, including a 2-8 mark in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
