Marauders blank Wolves 3-0 in season finale

BISMARCK, N.D. –
The University of Mary scored less than twelve minutes into the game, then tacked on a pair of insurance goals in the second half while holding the Northern State University Wolves off the scoreboard for the entirety, downing the Wolves 3-0 Saturday afternoon in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference soccer action.

The loss ends NSU's season and knocks the Wolves out of contention for the post-season NSIC tournament, marking the first time that they will not play a post-season match since the program's inception.  NSU ends the 2010 campaign with a 6-8-4 record and a 4-6-3 mark in conference play.

U-Mary moves to 7-6-5 overall and 6-3-4 in NISC matches and secures its spot in the conference tournament.

The Marauders took advantage of a corner kick opportunity in the first half to score their first goal.  U-Mary's Markelle Gallagher took the corner and sent it into the box where Sami Axtman knocked the ball down to the ground.  Kelsey Pacpaco then picked up the loose ball and found the back of the net for the score.

Ashley Tuschling added two goals in the second half, one in the 79th minute and one in the 89th, to make it a 3-0 fiinal.

NSU seniors Maggie Fedor and Kendra Titze had two shots apiece to pace the Wolves, who were outshot by a 15-9 margin, but only 6-5 in shots on goal.
