ABERDEEN, S.D. –
With one game left in the regular season, the Northern State University Wolves are still clinging to the eighth place spot in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference standings after falling 1-0 to St. Cloud State University on Sunday afternoon.

The two teams entered the contest tied for seventh in the standings and looking to take a step toward solidifying a spot in the eight-team post-season NSIC tournament.  The Wolves had moved into the seventh place tie after claiming a 2-1 win over Concordia-St. Paul on Saturday.

With Sunday's loss, the Wolves slip into sole possession of eighth place with 15 points (two points for each win, one for a tie), three back of SCSU and just one ahead of Upper Iowa.  The Wolves have just one game left on their slate, while the Peacocks have two chances to win.

After a scoreless first half, the Huskies took advantage of an NSU own goal in the 61st minute of play.  SCSU junior Sarah Clap fired off a shot from 20 yards out that ricocheted off the crossbar before bouncing off NSU goalkeeper Dee Wood and back to the net to give the Huskies the score.

The Wolves managed just one shot on goal the remainder of the way, but could not find the net, leaving the Huskies with the tight 1-0 victory.

NSU slipped to 6-5-4 overall and 4-5-3 in conference play, while the Huskies moved to 9-7-0 on the year and 6-5-0 in league matches.

The Wolves honored their four seniors - Kirsten Saunders, Maggie Fedor, Kendra Titze and Dee Wood - with a brief pre-game ceremony.

The Wolves go on the road to take on the University of Mary next Saturday in the regular season finale.  The Marauders (6-6-5, 5-3-4 NSIC) have won their last two matches and three of their last four.  Kick-off is slated for 1 p.m. in Bismarck, N.D.
