SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – A trio of Northern State University volleyball players were named to the Augustana Spring Hill Invitational All-Tournament team this past weekend.  Juniors Jordan Schaffer, Whitney Morsching and Megan Gilbraith were all honored for their performances at that tournament as the Wolves went 2-2, claiming wins over 22nd-ranked Augustana and NCAA Central Region foe Chadron State.

Schaffer, who sat out the 2008 season due to transfer rules, wasted little time getting back into the game as she recorded 28 kills, 52 digs and a team-best 17 blocks through the team's four matches.  The hard-hitting left-hander turned in one of the best stat lines of the day in NSU's 3-2 win over Augustana on Friday, recording 14 kills, 21 digs and eight blocks in that match.

Morsching also turned in a solid all-around performance on the weekend with 30 kills, 17 blocks and eight service aces.  Three of those aces came on three straight serves in the second set of the Wolves' opening match.  The effort helped the Wolves climb back from a 22-17 deficit to tie the set at 22-all.  Morsching's presence at the net also helped the Wolves hold opponents to just a .174 hitting percentage.

Junior setter Megan Gilbraith garnered her honor after guiding the Wolves' offense that averaged nearly 11 kills per set on the weekend.  Gilbraith recorded 43 assists in NSU's opening match while putting up another 37 in the night-cap against Augustana.  She also notched three kills and a service ace in each of those matches.  Gilbraith followed that up with 34 assists and three service aces in the win over Chadron State.

The Wolves will take the coming weekend off before putting their 2-2 record on the line at the Montana State University-Billings tournament Sept. 11-12.
