ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State freshman
Jenna Higgins let loose with a career-high 23 points in leading her teammates to a 72-54 victory Saturday over Upper Iowa University in Aberdeen, S.D.
With the win the Wolves improve to 12-10 on the year and 8-7 in the Northern Sun. The Peacocks drop to 5-17 overall and 1-14 in the conference, and the Wolves have now won eight of the last nine meetings between the two schools dating back to the 2003-2004 season.
As a whole, the Wolves shot 30-64 from the field (46.9%), including 5-10 from behind the three point line. Upper Iowa shot 21-63 (33.3%) and made 10-24 three pointers.
Higgins' 23 points came on 11-23 shooting and she also recorded eight rebounds (one away from tying her career high.) Sophomore
Kayla Schmidt made every shot she took in the game on her way to finishing with 11 points. Schmidt was 3-3 from deep and 2-2 on her free throw attempts.
The Wolves are next in action on Saturday, February 14th, when they travel up to Bismarck, N.D. to take on the University of Mary.
