ST. PAUL, Minn. –
Northern State University senior Laura Skog scored her first goal since her freshman campaign, helping the Wolves to a 1-0 victory over Concordia University-St. Paul Sunday afternoon.  The victory vaults the Wolves, now 7-6-5 overall and 5-3-3 in league play, into sixth place in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference standings.

The Golden Bears slipped into a tie for eighth place in the conference and now stand at 8-8-3 overall and 5-5-2 in the loop.  CU has just one game left in the regular season, while the Wolves have two more contests left on their slate.

The Wolves got off 12 total shots and seven shots on goal, but were unable to find the net until Skog picked up a rebound off a corner kick in the second half and slipped home the ensuing shot.  The goal was the second of her career and her first since Sept. 9, 2006.

Skog, meanwhile, led an NSU defensive effort that held the Golden Bears to just five shots on the day, only three of which were on goal.  Junior goalkeeper Dee Wood made saves on all three to record her eighth shutout of the season.

The Wolves close out the regular season next weekend, playing host to Upper Iowa on Saturday before facing off against the league-leading Winona State Warriors on Sunday.  Both games will be held at Jerde Field.  Saturday's game will start at 11 a.m., while kickoff on Sunday is set for 1 p.m.
