MANKATO, Minn. –
The Northern State University Wolves battled through cold and wet conditions on Friday, taking the host Minnesota State, Mankato Mavericks to the limit before coming away with a 0-0 tie in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference soccer action.

With the tie, their fourth in the last six games, the Wolves moved to 3-4-4 on the year and 1-1-2 in conference play.  MSU, which was ranked fourth in the NCAA Central Region and receiving votes in the national poll, is now 6-2-1 overall and 2-2-1 in the loop.

The Wolves hung tough through the first half, putting up six shots while limiting the Mavericks to just two.  The second half was a different story, however, as the Mavericks posted 13 shots, including four on goal, and holding the Wolves without a shot through the entire 45-minute period.

Junior goaltender Dee Wood was perfect in the net for the Wolves, making one save in the first and all four in the second half to send the game to overtime.

Neither team was able to find the net in either of the extra stanzas, although NSU senior Summer Swan had NSU's third and final shot on goal with just three seconds left in the first OT period.  MSU's Sheila Reynolds made that save to keep the game alive for the Mavericks.

NSU will regroup with a full day's rest on Saturday before taking on Southwest Minnesota State on Sunday.  Kick-off for that match is set for 1 p.m. in Marshall.
