CROOKSTON, Minn. –
Despite an overwhelming 25-4 advantage in total shots and a 10-4 edge in shots on goal, the Northern State University Wolves needed a late first-half goal from redshirt freshman Yvette Waters to rally for a 1-1 double-overtime tie at Minnesota Crookston on Saturday in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference soccer action.

The tie, NSU's second in the last three games, was the fifth of the season for the Wolves, now 4-4-5 overall and 2-1-3 in conference play.  NSU has lost just once in the last 10 games after starting the season 0-3.  UMC, meanwhile, remained winless in the conference loop, slipping to 2-9-2 overall and 0-6-1 in league action.

The Wolves claimed a lopsided 11-1 edge in shots in the first half, but the Golden Eagles made that one shot count as UMC's Megan Gibeault fed Kaitlyn Ostergren for the game's first goal in the 27th minute of play.

The Wolves answered in the 41st minute of play with Waters' unassisted goal, marking her first career score.  That goal would also mark the final score of the game, although the Wolves did have four shots on goal in the game's final ten minutes of regulation.

NSU remains on the road to face MSU Moorhead on Sunday.  Kickoff for that NSIC contest is set for 1 p.m.
