ABERDEEN, S.D.

The win improves Northern's 2008-2009 tally to 4-3 overall and 1-1 in the young conference season. Augustana drops to 4-3 overall and 0-2 in the NSIC.

The game seemed to look the exact opposite from the night before as a very cold-shooting Augie team went 3-20 from behind the three-point line on their way to a 31.7% shooting night overall (19-60). The Wolves didn't have especially good shooting either, going 3-12 from deep (25%) and only 22-60 overall (36.7%), but they managed to keep putting points on the board every time Augustana looked like they were attempting to make a comeback. The Wolves did shoot a very strong 77.3% from the free-throw line (17-22) compared to the 57.1% (12-21) of Augustana.

The great defense by the Wolves got started in the first stanza as they gave up a meager 18 points to a team that had previously been averaging 76.5 points per contest in their six games prior to Saturday. The Wolves scored 20 points off 17 Augie tunovers and also outrebounded their opponents 48-38, providing 11 second-chance points for the Wolves on offense.

Sophomore Jodi Reinschmidt put together her second double-double of the season with her 11 points and career-high 15 rebound effort. She also had four assists, two steals, and went 5-7 on free throws in a team-leading 35 minutes of playing time. Sophomore Krista Rabenberg put together a 14 point seven rebound performance and freshmen Jenna Higgins and Mikayla Barondeau had 13 and eight points, respectively.

The Wolves will be in the second weekend of the two-weekend homestand when they take on Southwest Minnesota State on Friday and the currently #17 Minnesota State Mavericks on Saturday.

Northern State University is an NCAA Division II affiliated school participating in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and is located in Aberdeen, South Dakota.

**GO WOLVES**

- Tough defense and timely shooting was the recipe for success Saturday at Wachs Arena as the Northern State women's basketball team shut-down a very potent #25 Augustana Vikings' offense for a 64-53 win in front of 5,154 fans at the Barnett Center.
