Wolves Dominate Paint, Saints for 80-35 Win

ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University Wolves jumped out to a 15-0 advantage Friday evening and never looked back as they took it to the cross-town Presentation College Saints by a score of 80-35 in front of 2,854 fans at Wachs Arena.

The Wolves held their opponent to 21.8% shooting from the field (12-55) including 15.8% from the three-point line (3-19).  The Wolves, on the other hand, balanced very good shooting with very few turnovers to earn their second win of the season.  They were 30-71 from the field for a 42.3% average, and their 13 turnovers compared to the Saints' 18 gave them an advantage though the duration of the game.  All 18 active athletes got on the floor for the Wolves as they dominated their opponent in the paint, outscoring them by a 46 to eight margin.

Freshman Mikayla Barondeau had her coming out party as she totaled 13 points to lead the Wolves to go along with 9 rebounds and one steal in 19 minutes of playing time.  She was a cool 3-3 from the charity stripe, and as a team the wolves were a very stellar 17-21, good for 81%.  Fellow freshman Jenna Higgins had another strong performance in her third game as she accounted for 12 points, one block and four rebounds on 6-13 shooting in her 14 minutes of playing time.

Krista Rabenberg accounted for nine points, nine rebounds and four blocks while fellow sophomore Jodi Reinschmidt continued her strong play as of late with seven rebounds and eight points to go along with one steal and one block on 4-7 shooting.  Freshman Emily Becken had a 4:1 assists to turnover ratio to go with seven points and two steals on 3-4 shooting, including 1-1 from long range.

With the win the Wolves improve to 2-1 on the year.

The Wolves are next in action Saturday and Sunday, November 29-30 as they take on Minnesota-Duluth and Bemidji State at the innagural NSIC Holiday Hoops Fest
