Wolves' unbeaten streak ends with 4-0 loss at #3 Winona

The Winona State University Warriors scored two goals in each half to take a 4-0 win over the visiting Northern State University Wolves Friday evening in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference women's soccer action.

The Warriors, ranked third in the nation in the latest top 25 poll, scored all four of their goals in a 30-minute span, scoring their first two goals in the last 15 minutes of the first half and their second two in the first 15 minutes of the second half.  All four scores came off the foot of four different players.

The loss drops NSU, ranked tenth in Tuesday's Central Regional poll, to 10-7-2 overall and 6-4-2 in conference play, while the Warriors improved to 17-1-0 on the year and a perfect 12-0-0 in the league.

The Warriors held an 11-5 edge in shots on Friday, including a 7-2 advantage in shots on goal.  Junior Summer Swan and Maggie Fedor accounted for both SOG for the Wolves.

WSU goat goals from Melissa Sellier and Sarah Colleran in the first half, and Richelle Shannon and Amelia Kasten in the second half.  Kasten and Colleran were also credited with an assist, while Kendal Straessle had a pair of assists on the night.

The loss broke a 6-game unbeaten streak for the Wolves, who remain on the road to take on Upper Iowa on Monday in the final regular season game of the year.  Following that game, NSU will await the first-round NSIC tournament pairings for the post-season conference tournament, which begins on Wednesday.
