BEMIDJI, Minn. - An unassisted goal by Steph Connolly two minutes and fifty seconds into the first overtime period gave the Northern State soccer team (7-3-1) a 3-2 win over Bemidji State (4-5-1) on Sunday afternoon. The Wolves are 2-0-1 in overtime decisions in 2007.

The Wolves out-shot the Beavers 23-17 in the game and controlled the short overtime period, not allowing BSU a single shot while NSU got off three. The Beavers took the edge in shots on goal in the game, however, taking 11 to NSU's 10. Northern looked at seven corner kicks in the game while Bemidji had only three, but the Beavers took advantage of one opportunity with a resulting goal scored.

Maggie Fedor put the Wolves up 1-0 in the first half with a goal at the 18:01 mark and was assisted by Summer Swan. The goal marked Fedor's tenth of the season. She is the only NSU player besides Melissa Gamble to score ten or more goals in a season since 2002.

Bemidji State countered Fedor's goal and tied the game up just two minutes later with a goal off of a corner kick. The game went into the half knotted up at 1-1.

Steph Connolly would change the lead in favor of the Wolves twice more in the game, the first time with an unassisted goal at the 56:35 mark of the second period and the second in the overtime session as she booted the game winner. BSU's Jamie Ford tied the game at 2-2 in the second period, taking a feed from Megan Wallner for the goal.

Four NSU players took multiple shots on goal in the game against Bemidji State (Summer Swan, Bronson, Fedor, and Connolly). Kit Grace spent the game protecting the net and made nine saves.

The Wolves continue play on the road next Saturday and Sunday as they open NSIC play against Upper Iowa and Winona State, respectively. Both games are slated for a 1:00 pm start.
