ABERDEEN, S.D. - The Northern State soccer team hosted Dakota Wesleyan in a Midnight Madness game, which kicked off at 11:30 p.m. Sunday evening. Playing for 1,023 fans, the Wolves scored one goal in each half and shut out DWU for a 2-0 win. NSU is now 4-1 on the season while DWU is 0-3.
Alisha Martinez, a sophomore forward from Westmister, Colo., put the Wolves up early in the game with an unassisted goal at the 4:41 mark. Northern's second goal came at the 70:25 mark, when senior
Kelsey Vinnedge (Great Falls, Mont.) took a corner kick feed from
Kendra Titze (Fr., Aberdeen, S.D.) to put the Wolves up by the final score of 2-0.
For the second consecutive game, the Wolves allowed their opponent just two shots in the entire game. NSU got off 31 shots, including 15 on goal.
The Wolves host Minnesota State Mankato on Friday, September 7 at 3:00 pm at Jerde Field.
