ABERDEEN, S.D. - Northern State freshman
Maggie Fedor notched three goals in the Wolves 5-1 home opening win Saturday evening over Jamestown College (1-2). A forward from Monticello, Minn., Fedor scored Jerde Field's first goal of the season and also drove in two more goals early in the second half. The Wolves are now 3-1 on the season and will play a midnight madness game tomorrow evening against Dakota Wesleyan, starting at 11:30 pm.
Fedor got the scoring going for the Wolves at the 17:50 mark of the first half, taking a feed from
Summer Swan to put the home team up 1-0. The Wolves took the lead into the second half, but Jamestown tied the game up just two minutes into the period with a Kellie Miller score. Fedor answered with NSU's next two goals, assisted by
Sky Swan and
Kirsten Saunders, respectively.
Katherine Bronson (So., Spokane, Wash.) put the Wolves up 4-1 with a goal at the 78:30 mark and
Kendra Titze (Fr., Aberdeen, S.D.) finished the scoring with a goal at the 81:16 mark. Titze and Alisha Martinez earned the assists on the goals.
In one of Northern's best defensive efforts of the season, they kept the Jimmies to just two shots in the entire game, while they ratcheted off 27 of their own.
