MOORHEAD, Minn. - Northern State's regular volleyball season has concluded as the Wolves fell 0-3 to the Dragons of MSU Moorhead (17-9, 11-7 NSIC) Saturday afternoon, 30-26, 30-16, and 30-21. The Wolves finish the regular schedule with a 13-15 overall record and, with a mark of 8-10 in the NSIC, are the sixth seed in the upcoming NSIC Tournament. They will play No. 3 Wayne State in Wayne, Neb., on Tuesday, Nov. 6 at 7:00 p.m.
Stephanie Perez was the only Wolves hitter to post double figures against the Dragons, finishing with 12 kills on the night. Northern hit just .037 as a team. Leading the NSU defense was
Melanie Perez with 26 digs. NSU had 71 digs in the match and four team blocks. They had an especially difficult offensive game in the second game, in which they had just five kills and eight hitting errors.
The Dragons were led by Kelci Guenther with 18 kills in the 3-0 trouncing of the Wolves. Guenther committed just one hitting error for an average of .548 and also had six block assists. MSU Moorhead accumulated 9.5 blocks in the match and had 78 digs. Calle Oftedahl led the squad with 28 digs. MSU Moorhead hit .231 on offense with 45 kills to NSU's 28.
MSU Moorhead wraps up the regular season with a mark of 11-7 in the league and is the fourth seed in the NSIC Tournament.
