ABERDEEN, S.D. - Five different Wolves saw scoring action in Saturday's 5-0 win over the University of Minnesota, Crookston (5-12, 2-4 NSIC). Northern State out-shot the Golden Eagles 16-6 and had 11 shots on goal in the win, which improved the team to 13-3-2 overall and 6-0-1 in the league. The Wolves have not lost a game in over a month and are on a six-game winning streak.
Katherine Bronson wasted no time in giving the Wolves a lead in the game. She took a feed from Alisha Martinez and notched the first goal of the game at the 1:41 mark. Two more goals were added in the half, one each from
Larissa Strychun and
Summer Swan, with assists going to
Maggie Fedor and
Sky Swan, respectively. The Wolves had a 3-0 lead at the half.
Northern's second half scoring began with a
Maggie Fedor goal at the 68:59 mark, her 15th goal of the season.
Kirbie Wages gave the Wolves a 5-0 lead just before the end of the game with her first collegiate goal.
NSU's
Dee Wood spent the game in the net and made three saves on her way to her second career shutout. The Wolves have not allowed a goal throughout the entire span of their shutout, over 568 minutes of shutout play.
The Wolves had 16 shots in the game and 11 that went on goal. They held the Golden Eagles to just six shots and three looks at the net in the game. NSU took five corner kicks to UMC's one.
The Wolves continue NSIC action at Jerde Field with a 1:00 pm meeting with Bemidji State tomorrow afternoon.
