Tanner Berg won the first conference championship of the meet for the Wolves, breaking the NSIC meet record in the weight throw with a 21.23m (69-08.00) toss. He defeated the next closest opponent by over three feet, with every one of his five attempts besting the 20.18m runner-up mark. Berg went on to win the shot put, with a new school record throw of 17.40m (57-01.00), adding ten more team points to the total. He also threw three feet longer than the runner-up in the shot put for his second conference championship of the day, breaking the school record set by Gerald Schlekeway in 1965 of 17.27m (56-08.00).
