Rodriguez opened his outdoor season in school record fashion finishing third in the 400m dash as the top Division II placer from the Colorado University Jerry Quiller Classic. The sophomore hit the line with a school record time of 47.94, finishing just 0.79 behind the race winner. He was also a member of the 4x400m relay team which finished fourth with a time of 3:21.04.
