Joe Gomez went a perfect 4-0 for the Wolves wrestling team from the NCAA Super Region III Tournament. Gomez opened the tournament with a 12-4 major decision victory over Ashton Bartlett of Southwest Minnesota State.  The junior moved on to the quarterfinal round against Clayton Wahlstrom of Augustana. Gomez recorded the 3-1 victory over Wahlstrom with a takedown in the opening period and an escape. Gomez opened Sunday action versus VJ Guilio of St. Cloud State. The hard fought dual went to overtime, and Gomez came away with the 5-3 sudden victory. With the victory, Joe punched his ticket to the NCAA National Championships. The finals brought Ryan Beltz of Maryville who defeated Gomez in the seventh place match from the NCAA's a season ago. The two were scoreless in the opening period, however Gomez tallied three takedowns in the second and third to take the 6-3 lead. On his final takedown of the bout, Beltz suffered an injury at 6:09 and was unable to continue.
