Gomez took home the Red Division (upper division) 197-pound title Sunday at the MSU Dragon Open. Gomez went a perfect 3-0 on the day on his way to the title. Gomez opened the day with an 18-1 technical fall decision and followed that up with a 4-3 win in the finals and a 4-1 decision in the championship match. Joe is a Chemistry major at Northern.
