Samantha Gunning led the Northern State Wolves this last season as they defeated Morningside College 277.5-91.5 and Minnesota Morris 267-116 from the Morningside Mustangs Challenge. Gunning took first in six races on the weekend (400 Medley Relay, 400 IM, 100 Fly, 200 Medley Relay, 400 Free Relay, and 200 Fly) and second in one other (50 Fly) by literally .01 of a second behind teammate Sara Peterson. Gunning, a standout for the Wolves a season ago continues to compete strongly at the start of her third season. She finished nearly 30 seconds ahead of her opponents in the 400 IM.
