Indianapolis – In the second NCAA Regional Rankings of the season, the Northern State University women's basketball team has moved up to No. 3 in the Central Region. The Wolves are the top NSIC school in the standings behind No. 1 Southwest Oklahoma State and No. 2 Central Missouri.
MSU Moorhead and Augustana sit in fourth and fifth, while Wayne State rounds out the league in ninth. Pittsburg State and Central Oklahoma represent the MIAA in seventh and eighth, with Arkansas Tech rounding out the top-10.
The NSIC, the Great American Conference (GAC) and the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) make up the 42-team NCAA Central Region again this year. The top eight teams in the region advance to the NCAA Regional Tournament on March 9-10, 12. Automatic bids are granted to the winners of the NSIC, GAC and MIAA postseason tournaments, with the remaining five spots being awarded on an at-large basis.
The NCAA Women's Basketball Selection Show is set to air on NCAA.com at 9 p.m. (CT) on Sunday, March 4. The NCAA Elite 8 will take place on March 19-21-23 at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
