Indianapolis – The NCAA released Tuesday the first edition of the women's basketball regional rankings, with the Northern State women sitting in fifth overall in the Central Region. The Wolves hold a 21-4 Division II and in-region record heading into the final weekend of the regular season.
NSIC opponents MSU Moorhead and Augustana sit in third and fourth ahead of the Wolves, while Southwestern Oklahoma State and Central Missouri are ranked first and second.
The NSIC, the Great American Conference (GAC) and the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) make up the 42-team NCAA Central Region again this year. The top eight teams in the region advance to the NCAA Regional Tournament on March 9-10, 12. Automatic bids are granted to the winners of the NSIC, GAC and MIAA postseason tournaments, with the remaining five spots being awarded on an at-large basis.
The NCAA Women's Basketball Selection Show is set to air on NCAA.com at 9 p.m. (CT) on Sunday, March 4. The NCAA Elite 8 will take place on March 19-21-24 at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
