Indianapolis – In the final NCAA Central Region volleyball rankings, prior to the NCAA selection show, the Northern State University Wolves remain at No. 4. The Wolves hold a 23-5 Division II record and 22-5 in-region record.
Six NSIC schools landed in the top-8 led by No. 1 Concordia-St. Paul. Southwest Minnesota State sits at No. 2, while Minnesota Duluth rounds out the top-5 behind the Wolves. Winona State and Augustana sit at No. 7 and No. 8 in the region.
The NSIC, the Mid-America Athletic Association (MIAA) and the Great American Conference (GAC) make up the 40-team NCAA Central Region. The top eight teams in the region will advance to the NCAA region tournament on November 30-December 2. Automatic bids are granted to the winners of the MIAA, GAC and NSIC postseason tournaments, with the remaining five spots awarded on an at-large basis.
The NSIC Volleyball Tournament gets underway Wednesday night with quarterfinal action around the region. No. 9 Northern State will host No. 18 Augustana in the opening round at 6 p.m. from Wachs Arena. The semifinals and championship will be played Saturday and Sunday, November 18-19 at the highest remaining seed following the quarterfinals.
The NCAA Volleyball selection show will be streamed online on Monday, Nov. 20 at 6:30 p.m. (CT) on NCAA.com. The 2017 NCAA DII Volleyball Championships will be hosted by the University of West Florida at the UWF Field House in Pensacola, Florida on December 7-9.
