Burnsville, Minn. – After a 16-4 season in the NSIC, the No. 7 Northern State University volleyball team has earned the third seed in the NSIC Tournament kicking off Wednesday in Aberdeen. The Wolves finished third overall in the league behind Concordia-St. Paul and Southwest Minnesota State.
Northern will face the sixth seeded Vikings of Augustana University in the first round. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. between the two teams from Wachs Arena. The top eight teams from the NSIC Volleyball Standings advance to the single-elimination tournament. The top four seeds host first round matches on Wednesday, November 15 with the winners advancing to the semifinal and championship rounds on Saturday, November 18 and Sunday, November 19 in a bracketed format. There will be no reseeding following the first round matches. The highest remaining seed following the quarterfinals will host the semifinal and championship matches.
NSU fans are reminded that Wolves Club passes will not be honored with ticket prices set at $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, $2 for students, and kids 5 and under admitted for free. All Northern State University students will be admitted free to the contest with their student ID card. The full NSIC regular season standings can be found below. The winner of the 2017 NSIC Volleyball Tournament will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Central Regional Tournament. The full championship selections will be announced on Monday, Nov. 20 via a webcast selection show on www.NCAA.com at 6:30 p.m. The regional tournament will be played November 30-December 2 at a regional campus. The 2017 NCAA DII Volleyball Championships will be hosted by the University of West Florida at the UWF Field House in Pensacola, Florida on December 7-9.
