Wolves Look to Extend Win-Streak in Weekday Double-Headers

The Northern State University softball team looks to extend their six game winning streak as they take on the University of Mary and Minnesota State University Moorhead in a pair of weekday double-headers. In the 2016 season, the Wolves are currently 18-22 overall and 8-8 in conference action.
 
Northern State is coming off arguably their best week of the year, sweeping Minot State, Concordia- St. Paul and NSIC leaders, Minnesota State. Macey Engel led the Wolves offensively, collecting a hit in each of the six games.  The senior went 9-20 from the plate with seven RBIs and two homeruns.
 
Defensively, Missy Elkins was solid from the mound. Elkins earned three victories from the mound, holding opponents to one earned run in 19 innings pitched. The junior continues to lead the NSIC in complete games pitched. As a unit, the Northern State pitching staff has averaged 3.25 earned runs per game.
 
The Wolves will take on the University of Mary at 2 and 4 p.m. on Tuesday from Moccasin Creek, and travel to Moorhead to take on MSUM at 2 and 4 p.m. on Thursday.
 
About the University of Mary
  • The Marauders open the week with an overall record of 9-25, and stand 3-12 in NSIC action.
  • U-Mary finished 24-31 overall and 13-16 in conference play in the 2015 season.
  • Taylor Mendez leads the Marauders from the plate, batting .385 with 21 RBIs and eight homeruns.
