Aberdeen, S.D. - NSU Head Coach
Kristi Villar announces the signing of six student-athletes to national letters of intent. Shayla Steinley (Lakeville, Minn.), Anne Jonas (Brookings, S.D.), Mikaela Pechar (Omaha, Neb.), Madison Rutter (Lakeville, Minn.), Kennady Thompson (Omaha, Neb.), and Kaitlyn King (Rapid City, S.D.) will join the Wolves in 2016-17.
| Shayla Steinley // Lakeville, Minn. // Lakeville North HS Steinley is an outfielder from Lakeville North High School. She is a three year starter for the Panthers and a team captain. Shayla hit a career best .336 in 2014 and recorded a .329 average and .431 on base percentage a season ago. She has earned the 2014 Coaches Award, 2015 Golden Glove, and was named to the 2015 All-Section Team. The Panthers have gone 35-12 the past two seasons with a 2014 Conference Championship. Shayla is a member of the National Honor Society and is an AP Scholar. |
| | Anne Jonas // Brookings, S.D. // Brookings HS Jonas is a middle infielder from Brookings High School. She is a four year starter for the Brookings Bobcats. As a sophomore, Anne earned her team's Most Improved award and was named to the All-State First Team. In 2015, the Bobcats finished fourth overall at the South Dakota State Tournament and Jonas was named to the All-State First Team for the second straight season. Anne also participates in hockey and is a two time state place winner. She earned the Academic Scholar Award in 2013 and 2014. |
| Mikaela Pechar // Omaha, Neb. // Millard West HS Pechar is a catcher from Millard West High School. She is a three year letter winner and two year starter for the Wildcats. The Wildcats are three time state qualifiers and District Champions with a record of 63-31 the last three seasons. In 2014 she was named both All-Conference Honorable Mention and Metro Conference All-Academic. As a senior team captain, Pechar hit .449 with 48 hits, ten homeruns, ten doubles, five triples, and 46 runs batted in. She is the Millard West single season homerun record holder with 10 in 2015. This season Mikaela was named to the Metro Coaches All-Division Team, Metro Coaches All-Academic Team, OWH All-Nebraska First Team, OWH Class A First Team, All-Metro Conference First Team, and LJS Class A Honorable Mention. She also throws the shot put and discus for Millard West. |
| Madison Rutter // Lakeville, Minn. // Lakeville South HS Rutter is a catcher from Lakeville South High School. She is a four year starter and team captain for the Cougars. Madison has earned 2014 All-Conference Honorable Mention, 2014 All-Section Team honors, 2015 All-Section Team honors, and was named the 2015 Team MVP. The Cougars won the 2014 Minnesota State High School League State Tournament in Madison's sophomore campaign. She also is a 2014, 2015 Academic Achievement honoree.

| Kennady Thompson // Omaha, Neb. // Millard North HS Thompson is a utility player from Millard North High School in Omaha, Nebraska. She is a five year letter winner and four year starter for the Mustangs in the Metro Conference. Kennady earned All-Division team honors in 2014 and 2015. She is a 2015 All-State Honorable Mention honoree and the 2015 Mustang Award recipient. Thompson and the Mustangs are 2014 and 2015 State Tournament participants.

| Kaitlyn King // Rapid City, S.D. // Rapid City Stevens HS King is a middle infielder and utility player from Rapid City Stevens High School. She is a three year starter for the Stevens Raiders. As a junior, Kaitlyn hit .450 with ten doubles, eight homeruns, and 19 stolen bases. She is a 2014 and 2015 All-State and All-Tournament honoree and the Rapid City Stevens 2015 Defensive Player of the Year. The Raiders have finished third in the South Dakota State Tournament the past three seasons, and recorded a 27-4 record in 2015. Kaitlyn also participates in basketball and volleyball for the Raiders. |
