STORMER, NILSSON NAMED ARMY NATIONAL GUARD ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Aberdeen, S.D. - Northern State's Krayle Stormer (wrestling) and Ava Nilsson (volleyball) are this week's South Dakota Army National Guard Athletes of the Week following their performances last weekend.

Stormer won the 141-pound bracket at the DWU Open with a 5-0 record. He tallied two bonus point wins in the opening rounds over Kameron Stiffler of Bismark State (TF 21-2) and Christian Kirchner (Maj 22-12). The freshman advanced to the title match with decision wins over Connor Ritonya of Kearney (7-4) and Elijah Reece of Minnesota State (8-2). The Montana native defeated No. 12 Colton Hush of Minnesota State in a 2-0 decision in his first upset victory of the season.

Nilsson dished out 82 assists against Southwest Minnesota State and Sioux Falls, averaging 11.71 assists per set. She added 17 digs, four blocks, and two kills. The redshirt freshman surpassed 1,000 assists on the year against the Cougars. The South Dakota native averaged 13.25 assists per set against the Mustangs, recording a weekend high.
