Northern State Track & Field / Cross Country Adds 13 for 2023-24

Aberdeen, S.D. – Northern State University director of track & field / cross country Lynne Dingman announced the signing of 13 student-athletes to their 2023-24 roster today. The class of Olivia Ashley (Rapid City, S.D.), Paige Bishop (Hillsboro, N.D.), Carter Dingman (Aberdeen, S.D.), Tayla Dobrenski (Brookings, S.D.), Jolie Dugan (Draper, S.D.), Elle Fahrendorf (Moorhead, Minn.), Drew Henriksen (Bismarck, N.D.), Karli Klein (Garrison, N.D.), Ross Kortenbusch (Vining, Minn.), Avery Miles (Turton, S.D.), Tayven Peterson (Mora, Minn.), Drew Salfrank (Aberdeen, S.D.), and Jordan West (Thompson, N.D.) will join the Wolves in the fall of 2023.
 
AshleyOlivia Ashley – Throws, Rapid City, S.D. / Douglas HS
Olivia Ashley is a thrower out of Douglas High School. She is a 3-year letter winner for the Patriots under the direction of head coach Jason Boeding. Ashley qualified for the South Dakota State Track Meet in 2022 and holds personal bests of 108'5" in the discus. She is the daughter of Lori Ashley.
 

BishopPaige Bishop – Throws, Hillsboro, N.D. / Hillsboro HS
Paige Bishop is a thrower out of Hillsboro High School. She is a 3-year letter winner for the Burros under the direction of head coach Wyatt Schultz. Bishop is a 2-time region runner-up in the shot put and 2022 state third place finisher. She holds personal best of 37'5.5" in the shot put. She is the daughter of Aimee Smith and Michael Bishop.
 

DobrenskiTayla Dobrenski – Multi, Brookings, S.D. / Brookings HS
Tayla Dobrenski is a multi-event competitor out of Brookings High School. She is a 3-year letter winner and team captain for the Bobcats under the direction of head coach Jason Sebern. Dobrenski is a 3-time state placer taking third in the high jump (2022), seventh in the 100m hurdles (2021) and eighth in the 100m hurdles (2022). In addition, she was the ESD Conference Champion in the 100m hurdles in 2022. Dobrenski holds personal bests of 15.40 in the 100m hurdles and 5'2" in the high jump. She is the daughter of Tammy and Darin Dobrenski.
 

DuganJolie Dugan – Distance, Draper, S.D. / Jones County HS
Jolie Dugan is a distance runner out of Jones County High School who will compete in cross country and track and field. She is a 6-year letter winner for the Coyotes under the direction of head coaches Bruce Venard and Jane Daum. In cross country, Dugan is a 4-time Conference Champion, 4-time Region Champion, the 2018 State Champion, and 2019 State Runner-up. On the track, she is a 3-time state medalist in the 3200m and 2-time state medalist in the 1600m. She is the daughter of Tarra and Scott Mathews.
 

FahrendorfElle Fahrendorf – Distance, Moorhead, Minn. / Moorhead HS
Elle Fahrendorf is a distance runner out of Moorhead High School who will compete in cross country and track and field. She is a 4-year letter winner and team captain for the Spuds under the direction of head coach Eric Hanson. Fahrendorf holds personal bests of 22:35 in the 5k, 2:25.0 in the 800m, and 63.0 in the 400m. She is the daughter of Craig and Terri Fahrendorf.
 

DingmanCarter Dingman – Sprints, Aberdeen, S.D. / Central HS
Carter Dingman is a sprinter out of Aberdeen Central High School. He is a 2-year letter winner for the Golden Eagles under the direction of head coach Greg Murley. Dingman is a 3-time state place winner in 2022 taking third in the 4x400m, sixth in the 4x200m, and sixth in the spring medley relay. In addition, he is a member of the 4x400m (3:24.26) and sprint medley (3:33.96) school records at CHS. Dingman's 4x400m relay won the ESD Championship in 2022. He is the son of Northern State alumni Jason and Lynne Dingman.
 

HenricksonDrew Henricksen – Hurdles, Bismarck, N.D. / Bismarck HS
Drew Henricksen is a hurdler out of Bismarck High School. He is a 3-year letter winner for the Demons under the direction of head coach Jeremy Schroeder. Henricksen is a 3-time state placer; taking third in the 300m hurdles (39.82), fifth in the 4x200m relay and fifth in the 4x400m relay. He is the son of Chris and Dawn Henricksen.
 

KleinKarli Klein – Multi, Garrison, N.D. / Garrison HS
Karli Klein is a multi-event competitor out of Garrison High School. She is a 5-year letter winner and team captain for the Troopers under the direction of head coach Jason Ermer. Klein is a 5-time state placer taking third in the 4x200m relay (2019), sixth and fourth in the 300m hurdles (2019, 2022), and second and third in the 100m hurdles (2021, 2022). In addition, she is a 4-time Northwest Conference Champion in the 4x200m relay (2019), 100m hurdles (2021), and 300m hurdles (2021, 2022). Klein holds personal bests of 15.84 in the 100m hurdles, 46.60 in the 300m hurdles.  She is the daughter of Travis and Sharon Klein.
 

KortenbuschRoss Kortenbusch – Multi, Vining, Minn. / Parkers Prairie HS
Ross Kortenbusch is a multi-event competitor out of Parkers Prairie High School. He is a 2-year letter winner and team captain for the Panthers under the direction of head coach Mike Johnson. In 2022, he earned the Park Region Conference Most Valuable Thrower award. Kortenbusch placed third in the discus and shotput at the Section 6A Meet. He holds personal bests of 139'0" in the discus, 42'5" in the shot put. He is the son of Amy and Russell Kortenbusch.
 

MilesAvery Miles – Distance, Turton, S.D. / Doland HS
Avery Miles if a distance runner out of Doland High School. She is a 6-year letter winner for the Patriots under the direction of head coaches Amanda Boomsma and Melissa Knox. Miles is a state qualifier in the 800m and 1600m events and Region 3B Champion in the 1600m. On the cross country course, she is a 5-time state qualifier. She is the daughter of Preston and Jennifer Miles.
 

PetersonTayven Peterson – Hurdles, Mora, Minn. / Mora HS
Tayven Peterson is a hurdler out of Mora High School. He is a 3-year letter winner for the Mustangs under the direction of head coach Michelle Ostien. Peterson holds personal bests of 15.59 in the 110m hurdles and 41.34 in the 300m hurdles. He is a 4-time all-conference selection and all-state honoree. Peterson placed second in the 4x100m (2021) and fifth in the 110m hurdles (2022) and the state track meet. He is the son of Melissa and Nate Peterson.
 

SalfrankDrew Salfrank – Sprints, Aberdeen, S.D. / Central HS
Drew Salfrank is a sprinter out of Aberdeen Central High School. He is a 2-year letter winner for the Golden Eagles under the direction of head coach Greg Murley. Salfrank is a 2-time all-conference honoree and 2022 all-state selection, placing fourth in the 400m. In addition, he is a member of the 4x400m (3:24.26) and sprint medley (3:33.96) school records at CHS. He holds personal bests of 50.14 in the 400m and 23.11 in the 200m. He is the son of Jim and Christen Salfrank.
 

WestJordan West – Jumps / Hurdles, Thompson, N.D. / Thompson Public School
Jordan West is a jumper/hurdler out of Thompson Public Schools. She is a 4-year letter winner for the Tommies under the direction of head coach Jeremy Anderson. West holds personal bests of 49.11 in the 300m hurdles and 4'11" in the high jump. In addition, she was a member of the 4x200m and 4x400m squads. She is the daughter of Theresa and Nick West.
